It’s time for an update! A lot has changed on the website. I have added a page explaining the classes I teach, some more information about myself, an events page and contact page. Please browse and let me know if you have any questions!
The events page is now showing the first couple of events that I get to teach classes at! Thanks to Kreativ Events I get to teach at some awesome locations! How does yoga at the beach, or on the Pier, or in a park sound? The first event is on Monday June 5th (it’s a national holiday!) at the boulevard in Scheveningen! You will find more info at the events page. Keep an eye on our calendar, we will soon add the other events that are already in the books!
If you follow Yoga Vayu on Instagram, you may already know that we have received our order of Manduka Pro Lite yoga mats! We will bring these to our classes so all you have to bring is comfortable clothing and maybe a towel! If you are thinking of coming to an event, let me know so I can reserve a mat for you!
I’m busy now, with preparations for June 5th and I’m so excited about it! So far the weather forecast is perfect and I am sure it will be a fantastic day! Before that, I get to spend two days of this week in the company of the awesome Shiva Rea. I can’t wait to let you guys know all that she will teach in those two days!
I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful summer weather and I look forward to seeing you soon on the mat!
The beautiful pictures on our website (more will be posted soon!) were shot by one of my dearest friends. How lucky am I! I am honored and so proud to be featured on her company’s website. Be sure to check out her website to see more from our shoot. Her work is terrific, as is she! Thank you Evamaria Kulovits Photography, I can’t wait for our next shoot!
After Texas I traveled on to Chicago, one of my favorite places to be! Together with my cousin I had yet another amazing yoga experience! Very early on a Saturday morning we left for Willis Tower. Or as most people know it (and still call it) Sears Tower. On the 99th floor we would have an 8am vinyasa class, organized by Yoga Six! Before the class would start however, we had private access to the observation desk, including the awesome skyboxes. These are boxes attached to the building, but sticking out of it and completely transparent on all sides, including the bottom! So before class started, 200 yogi’s gathered and patiently waited their turn to step in to the box and take pictures. An incredible feeling. I had been to Sears tower many times before, but never before the doors open to the public. The lack of lines to get in, the not having to share a skybox with other people and the private elevators were all such cool experiences! Practicing asanas in the skybox with someone so special to me was indescribable.
Class itself took place on an empty floor, now filled with 200 yogis, all facing the windows, 1 yoga teacher on a mic, a dj playing non traditional but awesome music to flow to and every time I looked up from my mat I saw the beautiful city and Lake Michigan. I literally am running out of words to describe how incredible it was. Maybe the pictures will show you!
Such an inspiration too…. You can do yoga ANYWHERE! And there will be those times where you’ll be lost for words in the best possible way! With that knowledge I am back home and back at work! June 5th will kick off the first of Yoga Vayu’s classes on location! Stay tuned and check our website for the details that will be posted soon! Follow us on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook to stay up to date. Soon the website will receive an update and hold all the info you’ll need and of course that will be on all our social media too! I can’t wait to meet you on the mat!
I have been on an amazing trip for a few weeks now and it has been such an incredible experience. Not only have I seen the most beautiful landscapes, I have also had the opportunity to take several classes with one of my greatest inspirations. Adriene (Yoga With Adriene) is such a great yoga teacher, but so much more than that. She is so warm, welcoming and very funny. She makes me want to be a good teacher. The way she makes the people she teaches feel, is what inspired me to want to become a yoga instructor myself.
She has shown me what yoga can do. For you. To you. How it can help you and challenge you at the same time. She got me hooked on yoga, by being enthusiastic, by making the classes fun to do. By getting hooked on yoga I started to feel different. My body got stronger, my back hurt me less and less. I started feeling so much better since I started practicing regularly. And that is exactly what I want to bring to other people. Help them to feel good, feel better. Not just physically, but better in general too. Yoga is a wonderful way to become aware of what your body needs to feel better.
This trip, being in her classes, got me so excited for when I come back home and can get started! I also had a chance to go to the monthly Yoga at the Blanton Museum, which has been on my wish list to attend since I heard that was a thing! It was amazing and made me look forward to the classes I will be teaching in public places soon! (Yes, more on that soon!) I am excited to show people how much yoga can do for you. How much farther it goes then a pretty pose, even though the pretty poses are cool! To find a way to connect to your body. To be able to feel what it needs and then be able to give it just that. So you can feel happy in your body, the way it is right now. Sore as it may be, tired as it may be. To have yoga help you find the good spots.
My trip is far from over. There are some more beautiful yoga moments coming up. But I know I will have much to look forward to when I fly back home!
